JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The teen who recorded the "smash mob" at a Jacksonville Walmart over the weekend is in big trouble -- with his grandmother.
In less than 72 hours, 17-year-old J'quan Jarrell's YouTube video of the food fight that caused $1,500 worth of damage got more than 20,000 hits on YouTube.com. But the video has also become the basis for a police investigation and the foundation for J'quan's grandmother's disapproval. She said she couldn't say on camera the kind of conversation she had with her grandson.
"Oh you don't want to know. You'd have to bleep me all out," she said.
J'quan said he wasn't a part of the mob, but a bystander who recorded the incident.
"I didn't throw anything, I just thought it was crazy," he said. "Pulled out my camera to record because I thought it'd get me a lot of views on YouTube."
From now on, J'quan said he will steer clear of situations like this one. His grandmother agrees.
"It's just seeing them in the store acting like that, and I'm sure their mothers and fathers did not raise them to be in Walmart tearing up stuff," she said.
