Salvation Army celebrates 125 years in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On Tuesday, the Salvation Army of Northeast Florida celebrated its 125th anniversary in Jacksonville. 

The celebration took place in Hemming Park from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and included a free concert by the Ancient City Brass, free doughnuts and free coffee.

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry granted the Salvation Army a proclamation stating that May 3, 2016 is Salvation Army Day in recognition of its history of service with the city. 

The Salvation Army began operating in Jacksonville in 1891.
