Swon Brothers take Country Superfest stage

Pair performs on second day of music festival in EverBank field

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Thousands of country music lovers made their way downtown to EverBank Field this weekend to enjoy the largest country music event to hit Jacksonville -- Florida Country Superfest.

The concert brought in 80,000 fans last year, and because of the event's success, big names like Keith Urban, Colt Ford and the Sworn Brothers performed.

In an exclusive interview before taking the state, the Sworn Brothers talked about its journey to success.

"We pretty much started playing music right out of the womb," said Zach Swon with The Sworn Brothers. "Our parents both sing and we were just kind of born into it."

Although making it sound easy, Zach Swon and his brother Colton didn't just wake up to stardom.

"The misconception is that we are an overnight success because we were on a show called 'The Voice,'" said Zach Swon.

"We teamed up with Blake Shelton, and it was amazing and exactly what we need to launch our career. But a lot of people don't see the years before that, the 16 and 17 years going back-and-forth to Nashville, writing songs like crazy."

Songs that would catch the attention of Brad Paisley, and land them some major awards and nominations.

"You always evolve," said Zach Swon. "We pick songs that we gravitated towards musically and then we went on tour with Brad (Shelton). We toured for a year so now we know the high points of what fans like."

When it's time to hit the stage, the brothers say a prayer, get a little silly, and remember how far they've come.

"I'll make fun of his hair, because I obviously have better hair," said Colton Swon. "But it's stuff like that to keep you sane and calms the nerves sometimes."
