Thousands of flights grounded as winter storm slams Northeast

More than 7,800 flights affected by storm

Travelers flying to and from the northeast were met with canceled flights and long delays Tuesday as winter storm Stella hammered the region.

All arrivals from Baltimore, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., were canceled Tuesday morning because of blizzard conditions brought on by winter storm Stella. All departing flights from Jacksonville to New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., were canceled.

The extreme weather conditions also caused delays for departing flights to Charlotte and Chicago.

An estimated 31 million people are affected by Stella, with Boston and New York City expected to get over a foot of snow. More than 7,800 flights are expected to be affected by the storm.
