Threat prompts search of Glynn County buildings

Courthouse, administration building evacuated

BRUNSWICK, Ga. – The Glynn County Courthouse and County Administration Building were evacuated Thursday afternoon due to bomb threats. Police were diverting traffic from the streets adjacent to the structures.

According to the Brunswick News, the bomb threat was called into a customer service representative at the courthouse about 2:30 p.m. Police say Southeast Georgia Health System and unspecified county properties on St. Simons Island were included in the bomb threat.

The Camden County Sheriff's Office told News4Jax it has sent its bomb squad to assist with the investigation.

By 4:30 p.m., the Harold Pate Building was cleared for people to re-enter, and the courthouses were cleared shortly after that, but roads in the area were still closed and it wasn't known if other searches were still underway.

A spokesperson for hospital said it was not evacuated, but was searched and nothing suspicious was found.
