Man critical after truck hits I-295 guardrail

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 57-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 295 on the Westside on Friday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

State troopers said Michael McDonald was driving a pickup truck about 9:20 a.m. when he veered off the road for unknown reasons and struck the median guardrail.

Troopers said McDonald wasn't wearing a seat belt and was ejected through the front passenger window.

McDonald was taken to UF Health Jacksonville in critical condition.

All lanes of Interstate 295 northbound at Wilson Boulevard were blocked for nearly two hours before reopening.
