Woman hurt after tree causes crash on Westside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman has life-threatening injuries after a tree caused her to lose control of her car and crash on the Westside.

Police said a woman in her 50s was driving southbound on Jammes Road and either she tried to avoid hitting a fallen tree or she may have been hit by the tree. She then swerved, lost control of her car, went into the northbound lane and her car landed in the ditch.

She was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be rescued. The woman was taken to the hospital life-threatening injuries.

Jammes Road between 118th and Morse Avenue was closed for several hours while the tree was removed and officials investigated.

Traffic homicide was on the scene and they're investigating.
