Detectives find 2 pounds of marijuana in sting

During execution of warrant, $6,000 worth of marijuana found

FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. – Flagler County deputies said they uncovered nearly two pounds of marijuana and a pistol when they executed a search warrant on Wednesday at an apartment complex on Village Drive.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit and the Flagler Beach police responded to the complex after receiving numerous complaints about potential drugs in the complex, authorities said.

Detectives said they saw Tylor Upson of Flagler Beach leave an apartment in the complex hiding items under his shirt and then put the items in the engine compartment of his car.

He drove off, and Flagler Beach police pulled him over in a traffic stop where they found about 168 grams of marijuana in the air box inside the engine compartment.

A search warrant for Upson's apartment was issued and detectives found about 670 grams of marijuana in the apartment. Combined with the 168 grams, the total comes to nearly two pounds, which is worth about $6,000 on the street.

Police said that they also found a .38 Special Smith and Wesson revolver in the apartment.

“This is just another example of the joint efforts to get drug dealers out of Flagler County and in jail,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “If you deal drugs in Flagler County, we have vacancy at the Green Roof Inn waiting for you.”

The Green Roof Inn is the agency's nickname for the Flagler County Jail.
