Two shot at park on Norwood Avenue

Party at a park leads to fight, escalates to shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police said two people were shot Sunday night after a fight broke out at a party at the Barney Browning Park on Norwood Avenue.

The fight escalated, which led to gunfire, which was reported to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 9:37 p.m.

According to the incident report, Derrica Hutchinson, 24, was shot in the head and leg and was already in a car to be taken to the hospital when police arrived. She was transferred to a JFRD unit to be transported to UF Health Jacksonville.

The second victim, Gabriel Woods, 33, admitted himself to the UF Health with unknown injuries.

Police searched the area, but found no signs of a suspect and the case was turned over to the Violent Crimes Task Force.

Officers were originally called to a noise complaint about 50 or more people in the park.
