UF police search for armed robbery suspects

UF: Suspects' last known location was Village Drive & West Fraternity Drive

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at 2635 West University Ave near the college campus.

UF tweeted out that the university police department is looking for two black men, between 19-22 years old. UF describes one of the men as having short hair and wearing a blue sweatshirt and the other man is described as having short hair and wearing a red shirt, khaki shorts and brass knuckles.

UF tweeted out that one of the men is armed. According to the school, their last known location is Village Drive and West Fraternity Drive.  

The Gainesville Police Department said officers responded to the home and a victim said the men entered his residence with a handgun and brass knuckles and demanded his "rent money." The victim said that he and his roommates were asleep when the men entered. He said they took cash and two cellphones. Police said one of the cellphones was found at Village Drive and Fraternity Row on the UF campus.

The university says campus police searched the area, but did not find the men. UF says the campus police is increasing patrol in the area.
