ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -

Flagler Hospital was deemed safe Tuesday night after receiving reports of a suspicious package being found inside one of the waiting rooms at the hospital just before 8 p.m.

St. Johns County investigators said a female at the hospital told an off duty deputy about a unattended bag. That deputy looked in the bag and determined the bag and its contents didn't match, prompting him to call in the bomb squad.

Bomb robots were sent into the hospital to determine what was inside the package. Deputies said no explosive materials were found inside the bag in question.

Deputies said the bag is a soft cooler that contained wires and duct tape, and that the odd combination of materials has prompted an investigation.

Deputies also used K9 officers to go through various areas of the hospital to make sure no other unattended packages or bags were on the property or in the building.

The waiting room that was originally cleared while police investigated has now reopened.
