One robbery happened off campus on SW 3rd Avenue.

The UF alert said the suspects were two men in their late 20s and that one was armed with a handgun.

One of the suspects was wearing a brown hoodie with squares on it and the other suspect was medium build.

The Gainesville Police Department said the victim told them one of the men asked if the victim had a lighter and then pulled out a small, silver handgun. He pointed the gun at the victim's chest and demanded his wallet and phone, police said.

The victim handed over the items and the men ran off east on SW 3rd Avenue.

The University Police Department has increased patrols in the area.

Earlier Tuesday, UF sent an alert about an armed robbery that occurred on West University Avenue.

UF tweeted out that the university police department is looking for two black men, between 19-22 years old. UF described one of the men as having short hair and wearing a blue sweatshirt and the other man was described as having short hair and wearing a red shirt, khaki shorts and brass knuckles.

UF tweeted out that one of the men was armed. According to the school, their last known location was Village Drive and West Fraternity Drive.

GPD said officers responded to the home and a victim said the men entered his residence with a handgun and brass knuckles and demanded his "rent money." The victim said that he and his roommates were asleep when the men entered. He said they took cash and two cellphones. Police said one of the cellphones was found at Village Drive and Fraternity Row on the UF campus.

The university said campus police searched the area, but did not find the men.

Anyone with information is asked to call UFPD at 352-392-1111 or 911.

The Gainesville Police Department said it made 183 arrests on armed suspects this year.
