Upswing in burglaries reiterates need to 'Lock it or Lose it'

Jacksonville Beach police sees spike in auto burglaries, vehicular thefts

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – The Jacksonville Police Department is continuing to urge residents to join in the "Lock it or Lose it" program after an increase in vehicle burglaries.

Police said a spike in auto burglaries and vehicular thefts stems mostly from people leaving their vehicles unlocked, and in most cases owners have also left keys in their car.

The Police Department is urging drivers to:

  • Never leave car keys, firearms or other valuables in the car after parking it
