JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – The Jacksonville Police Department is continuing to urge residents to join in the "Lock it or Lose it" program after an increase in vehicle burglaries.
Police said a spike in auto burglaries and vehicular thefts stems mostly from people leaving their vehicles unlocked, and in most cases owners have also left keys in their car.

A video of a burglary from Tuesday at 5 a.m. shows thieves going into unlocked cars and stealing items until one burglary suspect finds an unlocked car with keys inside. He then drives away, picking up the other suspects as he leaves.
The Police Department is urging drivers to:
- Lock your car when you leave it
- Never leave car keys, firearms or other valuables in the car after parking it
