Voting changes coming to One Spark

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After some discrepancies with One Spark's voting system during past festivals, event coordinators are introducing a revamped system, one that also rewards crowdfunders.

"The biggest thing is reward-based crowdfunding," said Patrick Murphy, the Customer Support Manager for One Spark.

This year, creators can set unique reward levels and choose how to reward crowdfunders depending on how much they choose to donate.

"(For example) $5, a creator will give you a high-five. $10, a creator will ship you a t-shirt. $20, you get an invite to an exclusive party," said Murphy.

The actual rewards are determined by the creators, and those are merely examples.

Another change, the creator now has the ability to choose a unique end date for his or her campaign.

Creators will begin their campaign Wednesday, April 8 at 11:00 a.m. However, they can set their end date

They can start their campaign on April 8, Wednesday, and they can either set their end date for 3:00 p.m. on April 12 or they can choose an end date that runs up to 30 days from the start of the festival.

"Even after One Spark 2015 ends, those campaigns still run and people are still able to directly contribute via the One Spark app and online," said Murphy.

For those who had problems with voting in the past, Murphy said some measures have been made to make things easier.

According to Murphy, the voter can use his or her old voting information from the years prior to vote and contribute. New voters can create a voter account using Facebook.
