"I want to say it's between $30,000 and $36,000 they were supposed to be paying my mortgage company for the last two years, and they didn't give them a dime," said Barbara Parish.

The company took the Parish's money and when the Parish's turned to get help from the bank, the bank made it hard for them too.

"That's it, they don't want to work with me, that's the bottom line, that's how I feel," said Parish. Barbara has spent tireless hours caring for her husband while fighting the banks and U.S. Settlements for their money back.

With her husband in hospice care Barbara decided to seek the help of two Jacksonville resources, Elder Source and Seniors Versus Crime. The two local agencies were able to help the Parish's keep their home.

"The two companies have come in and picked me up from the bottom and helped me so far," said Parish.

If you've been a victim of a scam and need help contact Seniors Versus Crime. Their officers are located in Regency. Their number is 904-721-6516.

U.S. Settlements is now out of business and under investigation by the Attorney General's office.
