JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Two Westside gas stations were robbed at gunpoint within four hours of each other, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The first robbery occurred about 10:15 p.m Thursday at the Hess Express on Lane Avenue South near the Hyde Park Medical Center. Police released a surveillance photo of the man (pictured above).

A man wearing a black bandana over his face pointed a silver semi-automatic handgun at the store clerk and demanded money.  The clerk complied.  The gunman ran out of the store and headed northbound on Lane Avenue South.

The second robbery occurred about four hours later eight miles away at the Gate gas station on Collins Road near Whispering Pines Drive.

Police say a man approached store clerks with a chrome-colored pistol about 2:05 a.m. Friday. He ordered them to go to the registers, open them and place money in a Gate grocery bag. The gunman grabbed three or four packs of Newport cigarettes before running out of the store. He was wearing a ski mask.

There was no immediate word on whether these two robberies are connected.  If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
