First Wednesday Art Walk
Join in the fun downtown on Wednesday night for ArtWalk. Enjoy arts and crafts from local artists. The theme of this month's Artwalk is Art Shook Up. There will be 26 live music and performances venues. There will be a Zumba party at the At& T tower beginning at 5:30 p.m.; free tango, salsa, and swing group classes hosted by A Social Affair Dance studio at Mark's and spoken word at the Adrian Pickett Gallery. This monthly event will go on rain or shine.
Music By The Sea The ninth annual Music By The Sea concert series continues this week at the St. Augustine Beach Pier and Pavilion. Break Even Band will perform beginning at 7 p.m. This is a free event. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. For more information, go to thecivicassociation.org.
ThursdayConcerts In The Plaza One of St. Augustine's favorite music events returns this summer. The Free Concerts in the Plaza will be held Thursday with a performance by The Falling Bones. The concerts are free, and they are held in the Plaza de la Constituction beginning at 7 p.m. Parking is free downtown after 5 p.m. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lounge chairs for sitting and picnic dinners. Jacksonville Suns The hometown's baseball team will take to the baseball grounds beginning Friday. The Jacksonville Suns will take on the Montgomery Biscuits at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The series opens Friday night. The game begins at 7:05 p.m. The famous San Diego Chickens will perform. The Blood Alliance will be on hand and the first 25 to donate will get tickets to the game, mini-bat, hot dog and soda. Saturday night is Jimmy Buffett night.The game will begin at 6:05 p.m. The first 3,000 will get a bobblehead. Sunday is Family Faith Day beginning at 3:05 p.m. The first 1,000 kids will get a Southpaw Color-Me-Magnet. The Jacksonville Landing Market Vendors will be out throughout the Landing on Friday selling produce, baked goods and other items. The Landing Market is held every Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Beaches Library Celebration The Jacksonville Public Library invites the community to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Beaches Regional Library with a special ceremony and ice cream social. It will begin Saturday at 1 p.m. at the library in Neptune Beach. Neptune Beach Mayor Harriet Pruette will be there along with council member Bill Guilliford.
"Paws And Recreation Day"
Kids and dogs can enjoy some time at Holland Park in Palm Coast on Saturday. Kids in grades K through 5 can attend a free sports clinic from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. They can learn more about the basics of football, soccer, basketball and tennis. You must pre-register for these clinics. Pooches and their families will enjoy a special PAWS event in the dog park beginning at 9 a.m. Dress your dog in his or her favorite costume and participate in a contest. There will be special doggie treats. This event is one of several planned in Palm Coast to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month.
Jacksonville Sharks Jacksonville's arena football team will be in action on Saturday. The Sharks will take on the Dallas Vigilantes beginning at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Arena. Fore more information on the team's schedule, go to www.jaxsharks.com.
48-Hour Film Project Award Show
You have seen the films and voted for your favorites. Now, it's time to find out if your favorite film won. Jacksonville 48-hour Film Project Award show will be held Saturday at 7 p.m at the Florida Theatre. Ticket prices are $10. Every second Saturday in Amelia Island, you can explore 12 different art galleries. Each of the art galleries features photography, copper, metal, stained glass and more. Riverside Arts Market You can enjoy live music and get some fresh fruits and vegetables at the Riverside Arts Market. It takes place under the Fuller Warren Bridge from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Summer Jazz Series
Enjoy the sweet sounds of jazz while at the beach. The Jacksonville Beach Summer Jazz Concert Series continues on Sunday. The headliner will be Mindi Abair, the second act will be Toscha and the opening act will be Incendio. The concert begins at 5 p.m. and will last until 9.
Summer Movie Classic The Summer Movie Classic returns to the Florida Theatre on Sunday. You can see the classic "Taxi Driver." The movie will be shown beginning at 2 p.m. Ticket prices can be found at www.floridatheatre.com.
Celebrating the Riverside Avondale Area Exhibition
The Cummer Museum and Riverside Avondale Preservation have partnered to show the history and future of the neighborhood. Thirty-four selected works of art by local artists will be on display through July 31. For more information on the exhibit, go to www.cummer50.org/events.
Uncommon Ground Exhibit You can see the work of four regional artists at the Ponte Vedra Cultural Center. The works of Mindy Hawkins, Judith Patterson, Pat Zalisko and Glenn Ross will be on display through July 8.
"Seasons And Conservation In Our Coastal Region" Beaches Museum and History Center will display a series of work from regional artists, painters and photographers. Harry Potter Exhibit You have seen it in movies, read about it in books and now you can see it in downtown Jacksonville. The traveling exhibition, "Harry Potter's World: Renaissance Science, Magic, and Medicine" can be seen at the Main Library. In 1997, author J.K. Rowling introduced the world to Harry Potter and the excitement has been growing ever since.This exhibition is appropriate for young adults and adult audiences.
