Wife Wanted In Colorado Slaying Arrested In Jax

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman wanted in connection with the June homicide of her husband in Mesa County, Colo., was arrested Monday in a joint operation involving the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Miriam Helmick, 51, was arrested on a warrant charging her in the death of 62-year-old Alan Helmick, who was found dead in their home. At the time investigators thought his death may have occurred during a possible robbery attempt.

Colorado officials said the arrest warrant remains sealed and details of what led to the Monday's arrest were not being released.

Miriam Helmick was being held in the Duval County jail on a $2 million bond pending extradition to Colorado.
