Issue resolved after customers experienced phone outage

HASTINGS, Fla. – Windstream telephone service in Hastings has been restored, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

Windstream customers in Hastings experienced a phone outage because of a telephone fiber cable being cut in the city, deputies said.

The cable, owned by Windstream Telephone Service, has since been fixed, deputies said.

Customers were unable to call 911, or call outside their immediate geographic area. The Sheriff's Office added that customers were only able to call from customer to customer within a small geographic area of Hastings.
