Jessie Roberts
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 25-year-old Jacksonville woman was convicted Tuesday evening of second-degree attempted murder, sale or possession with intent to sell cannabis while armed, and failure of defendant to appear on bail.

In May 2010, a woman and her friend drove to the Publix on Merrill Road to pick up another friend. When they arrived, Jessie Roberts approached the vehicle and began to argue with them about selling marijuana.

Roberts then pulled out a handgun, prompting the victim to get out of her vehicle.

As the women continued to argue, Roberts raised her gun and shot the victim, striking her once in the neck. She then fled the scene.

The victim has recovered from her injuries.

Roberts faces up to life in prison with a 25-year minimum mandatory sentence. She will be sentenced the week of Jan. 6.
