Woman at South Florida airport accused of smuggling cocaine in bra

Total of 2.7 pounds of cocaine seized by authorities, CBP officials say

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A woman from Jamaica was arrested by officers at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport for concealing more than 2 pounds of cocaine in the bra she was wearing Aug. 2, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said.

CBP officers found a white, powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine inside the bra after noticing abnormalities during an inspection, spokesman Keith Smith said.

"This is another excellent example of our CBP officers' expertise in preventing dangerous drugs from entering the United States," Port Director Jorge Roig said. "CBP officers demonstrate vigilance, integrity and professionalism on a daily basis."

A total of 2.7 pounds of cocaine was seized and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Smith said.
