Woman photographed riding sea turtle in July arrested, police say

Social media flooded complaints to state offices

MELBOURNE, Fla. – One of the women photographed riding a sea turtle this past July was arrested early Saturday morning.

The Melbourne Police Department said it responded to a disturbance in the 600 block of Espanola Way in Melbourne early Saturday morning and during the investigation came across a person with an active felony warrant against them. 

The warrant for Staphanie Marie Moore, 20, was in reference to possessing, sell, molest marine turtle or eggs nest. Moore was one of the women seen taking photographs on the back of a sea turtle.

Moore was arrested and taken to Brevard County Jail held on a $2,000 bond.
