Clay County deputies responding to a call about a 77-year-old woman missing from a Middleburg home early Wednesday morning recovered a body from a pond behind her Brannan Mill Plantation home.
Mitsuko Haddix's husband reported her missing from their Blackwater Drive home just before 6:30 a.m. He told authorities she suffers from insomnia and takes medication. He was concerned she might be in the pond.
Deputies found a body and called homicide investigators and the medical examiner’s office responded to the scene. Later Wednesday morning, the Sheriff's Office confirmed the identity as Haddix.
A Clay County detective told Channel 4 there was no indication of foul play, but the investigation will remain active pending the determination of cause of death.
