McIntosh Fights To Save Youth Camp, Jobs
POSTED: 9:42 a.m. EST January 28, 2002
Officials of McIntosh County are fighting to keep the Youth Development Camp open in order to save 170 jobs.
The camp houses 165 juveniles for a 90 day rehab program.
Gov. Roy Barnes cut the Development Camp out of the budget, saving some $5.8 million.
Officials argue that McIntosh County is one of the poorest in the state and cannot afford the economic impact of losing the camp.
