Driver Dies In Collision With Jackknifed Semi

POSTED: Friday, October 10, 2008

A 45-year-old driver from Kingsland, Ga., died Friday afternoon after a chain-reaction wreck involving three vehicles -- one of them a tractor-trailer hauling a load of beer.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred about 3 p.m. on North Main Street near Pecan Park Road when the southbound big rig driven by Randy Kinner, 30, of Orange Park, rear-ended a pickup truck driven by Juan Maria Banegas Flores, 24, that was pulling a cement mixer.

The tractor-trailer jackknifed, then was struck by a northbound car driven by Tony Baker.

Baker was pronounced dead at the scene. None of the other drivers nor the four passengers in the pickup truck were injured.
