Remains Found In St. Marys Identified

Police Say No Foul Play Suspected

St. Marys police said the skeletal remains recovered from a wooded area along the southwest side of Seagrove Street on Feb. 23 have been identified.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Division of Forensic Science and the Medical Examiner's Office reported the remains were those of 48-year-old Michael Hinton.

Police said the Medical Examiner used medical records obtained from the Southeast Georgia Health System, which contained CT X-ray scans. The scans had captured sufficient dental impression to use for comparison and make the identification.

Police said there were no markings or apparent injury to the bones to suspect foul play to be associated with the death.

Hinton was homeless at the time of his death but did work for some businesses in the St. Marys area, police said.
