Coast Guard Commissions New Brunswick Station

POSTED: Tuesday, January 18, 2005

The U.S. Coast Guard's permanent new 10,000-square-foot home in Brunswick was commissioned Tuesday.

Rep. Jack Kingston was among the dignitaries who attended the morning ceremony for Station Brunswick, which replaces a temporary building constructed in 1995.

The new building, which authorities say will better accommodate the 30-person crew and its three search and rescue vessels, is still shared with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

The new facility features a dining facility, berthing for 17 crewmembers and a 1,200-square-foot engineering bay complete with upgraded equipment.
