Suspect In Mayport Murder Arrested In Glynn County

The man police suspect of killing a 19-year-old man at a party at a Mayport apartment last week was arrested in Glynn County.Benjamin Lee Washington, 23, was captured about 3 p.m. Wednesday after Glynn County police received a tip that a person matching his description was in the vicinity of state Highway 341 and Crispen Boulevard.An investigator found Washington at Parker's Convenience Store on New Jesup Highway and arrested him without incident. Washington was booked into the Glynn County jail as a fugitive from justice.
Jacksonville police said Washington was wanted for the shooting death of Chad Henderson at the Mayport Trace Apartments just before 7 p.m. on May 11.Several people at the apartment complex told Channel 4 the shooting may have resulted from an argument over an offensive tattoo worn by the victim.
