Police: Man licked victim's blood off his hands

Two people arrested in connection with home invasion attack

Las Vegas, NV (KVVU) Las Vegas police said Friday that they had arrested a second person in connection with a home invasion that left a man beaten to death and his sister injured.

The break-in happened last week near the intersection of Lake Mead and Hollywood boulevards.

According to Las Vegas police, they were alerted to the home invasion after a wheelchair-bound woman showed up at a convenience store near Lake Mead and Hollywood early Tuesday morning and told workers that she had been held hostage at a nearby home. Police responded and the woman, who had a gash on her head, led them to a home where they found her brother, 47-year-old Edward Turner, beaten to death with a crowbar.

By Tuesday night, police said they had arrested 33-year-old Jennifer Mustachia in connection with the crime.

According to her arrest report, Mustachia claimed she tried to stop the attack using a souvenir bat and an unloaded gun she found at the home. She said she accidentally hit Turner's sister with the bat.

On Friday, police said they had also arrested 29-year-old Jamie Zuniga in connection with the case.

According to his arrest report, Zuniga told detectives that he and Mustachia went to the home to shake Turner down for money he owed her. When Turner answered the door, Zuniga was holding a crowbar. He attacked Turner, punching him several times in the face until he fell the floor. He then grabbed a television and fled to a waiting car.

According to the report, there were two people in the car. Both told police that Zuniga's hands were bloody and he licked them clean when he jumped into the car. One of them told detectives that Zuniga said, "I love doing this [expletive]," after he licked the blood from his hands.

Zuniga denied hitting Turner with the crowbar, and said he thought he was alive when he left the scene. He said he licked the blood off his hands in an effort to appear crazy and intimidating to the people in the car.

According to the report, Zuniga was able to sell the television for $40.

Both Mustachia and Zuniga were charged with murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, burglary, battery, robbery and kidnapping.

Mustachia was being held at the Clark County Detention Center on $140,000 bail, while Zuniga was being held on $90,000 bail.
