Replenishing his cash after an expensive primary fight, former Rep. Aaron Bean, R-Fernandina Beach, collected $62,054 between Aug. 10 and Sept. 14, newly filed records show.
Bean's Democratic opponent in Senate District 4, Nancy Soderberg, raised $37,466 during the period and has an overall total of $122,466.
Bean has raised an overall total of $550,727, but he had to spend a large amount to defeat Rep. Mike Weinstein, R-Jacksonville, in last month's primary. The new reports indicate Bean has about $50,000 in cash on hand. Soderberg has about $86,000 in cash on hand, not including $15,000 in loans she made to the campaign earlier in the year.
Bean received money during the most-recent period from groups such as the Florida Medical Association and the Florida Chamber of Commerce. Soderberg, a University of North Florida professor and former Clinton administration national-security official, has received support from some longtime Democratic players in Jacksonville-area, such as the Pajcic & Pajcic law firm and a consulting firm headed by former state Rep. Mike Langton.
District 4 includes Nassau County and about two-thirds of Duval County.
