--LEAD IN --
The Supreme Court ruled on the constitutionality of the sweeping healthcare reform law -- and now the reaction is playing out in the political arena.
Tory Dunnan is in Washington with how the candidates are spinning the results in their financial favor.
--REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS --
AS THE DUST SETTLES FROM A BUSY DAY BOTH PRESIDENT OBAMA AND MITT ROMNEY ARE USING THE SUPREME COURT RULING ON HEALTH CARE TO LOOK FORWARD TO THE NOVEMBER SHOWDOWN.
This is a time of choice for the American people. Our mission is clear. If want to get rid of Obamacare, we're going to have to replace President Obama.
MITT ROMNEY'S CAMPAIGN WAS QUICK TO CHANGE THE HOMEPAGE OF THEIR WEBSITE -- IT NOW READS: "OBAMACARE UPHELD: ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES".
THE LARGE RED "DONATE" BUTTON - IS ALSO PRETTY HARD TO MISS.
THE TWITTER WORLD LIT UP AS WELL -- SOLICITING DONATIONS FOR HASHTAG FULL REPEAL.
JUST MINUTES AFTER THE RULING CAME DOWN, DONATIONS HIT THE 100 THOUSAND DOLLAR MARK FOR THE ROMNEY CAMPAIGN...BY THE END OF THE DAY THEY'D REACHED $2.5 MILLION.
I didn't do this because its good politics, I did it because I believed it was good for the country.
DEMOCRATS ALSO JUMPED ON THE OPPORTUNITY....
OBAMA'S CAMPAIGN MANAGER SENT OUT A FUND-RAISING PITCH MOMENTS BEFORE THE RULING CAME DOWN -- A PLEA TO REACH THEIR JUNE GOAL AND BEAT ROMNEY IN FUNDRAISING THIS MONTH.
AND THE FIRST LADY SHARED THE SAME SENTIMENT -- TELLING A GROUP FROM NASHVILLE THEY NEEDED TO GET ENGAGED LIKE THE REPUBLICANS.
Engaged on every level. Raising money, making voices heard and issues known.
THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN TEAM WOULD NOT REVEAL ANY FUNDRAISING NUMBERS FROM THE DAY.
THEY SAY THE RULING IS THE FINAL WORD ON REFORM AND ARE URGING REPUBLICANS TO MOVE BEYOND THIS BATTLE...BUT THERE SEEMS LITTLE CHANCE OF THAT.
IN WASHINGTON, I'M TORY DUNNAN. BACK TO YOU.
