JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Too dry, too far north and it is still early in the heart of the hurricane season. There are two systems the National Hurricane Center (NHC) will be monitoring this weekend. As of Friday morning, forecast models are not particularly interested in developing either system. But...
We are entering the "heart" of the hurricane season. From August 15th to October 15th, tropical systems can rapidly develop. They can quickly catch people off guard, especially after a weekend. And with nothing imminently heading our way, this weekend is a good time to at least think about what you would do if a serious hurricane were to threaten Jacksonville in the very near future. Don't ever forget EVERYONE needs a plan for pre, during and post hurricane (not just those living at the beach). Yes, post-storm, you will need to prepare to go at it alone for at least 3-5 days, possibly without the ability to leave your neighborhood, or go to the store, let alone have power.
