Thought the battles over budgets were over?
They're not, at least in the political sense.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is launching online ads against 17 Republican representatives it considers vulnerable, the group will announce Monday.
The Web videos highlight House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan's budget, which passed the GOP-controlled House in March. That was given no chance of passing the Democrat-led Senate, and the plan approved by Senate Democrats was considered a nonstarter for the House.
The videos describe Ryan's budget as "radical" and include clips of commentators and analysts describing cuts to education and health care programs. The budget is "Robin Hood in reverse," the spot says.
"Middle class families want solutions that reduce the deficit and are fair to the middle class, but Republicans in Congress voted for more partisan ideology instead," the DCCC's Emily Bittner said in a statement.
"Republicans say this budget is the best way to communicate their 'governing philosophy,' so we're telling the people what that means: more for millionaires and corporate special interests, less for the middle class and seniors. That might be the Republican Congress' governing philosophy - but it certainly isn't the right philosophy for America's middle class."
The members targeted in the spot are Tim Griffin and Tom Cotton of Arkansas; David Valadao and Gary Miller of California; Mike Coffman of Colorado; Larry Bucshon of Indiana; John Kline and Erik Paulsen of Minnesota; Lee Terry of Nebraska; Jon Runyan of New Jersey; Michael Grimm and Tom Reed of New York; David Joyce and Jim Renacci of Ohio; Mike Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania; Scott Rigell of Virginia; and Jaime Herrera Beutler of Washington.
The group did not disclose how much or for how long the buys were.
