Families Line Up For Housing Assistance

City Of Green Cove Springs Hands Out Applications

The city of Green Cove Springs has announced a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program for low-income families.

Starting at 7 a.m. Monday, 150 applications will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. No applications will be given out after 5:30 p.m. Only one application will be given per family. Applications can be picked up at the housing office at Green Cove Springs city hall located at 321 Walnut Street in Green Cove Springs.

Deadline for returning completed original applications will be 5:30 p.m., Monday, June 29. Applicants must return their applications to the housing office at the above address. Mailed applications must be postmarked on or before that date. Applications will be recorded upon receipt with date and time, reviewed in that order and then placed on the waiting list.

Applications for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program will be open to families who meet the selected criteria of very low income, in accordance with the PHA Plan, in regards to criminal and/or drug activity, or Failure of Family Obligations.

All household members 18 years and older must sign the application and will be subject to a criminal background check. Any household member subject to a lifetime registration requirement under the State Sex Offender Registration Program will be permanently disqualified from receiving assistance.

All income must be stated clearly on the application. Any false information on the application will result in denial or termination of assistance.

VERY LOW INCOME IS DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:
    Persons Per Family -- Very Low Income Annually
  • 1 -- $22,800
  • 2 -- $26,050
  • 3 -- $29,300
  • 4 -- $32,550
  • 5 -- $35,150
  • 6 -- $37,750
  • 7 -- $40,350
  • 8 -- $42,950

Individuals with disabilities requiring a reasonable accommodation to participate should contact the office prior to application day at 904-529-2218, during the hours of 7:00a.m. -- 5:30p.m., Monday -- Thursday. TDD 904-529-2219. The city of Green Cove Springs is a non-discriminating agency.

PUBLIC NOTICE: The Housing Office will close the waiting list effective at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
