Houston, TX -- (Sports Network) - Former Houston Astros second baseman Craig Biggio signed a personal services contract with the club, the Astros announced Monday at Minute Maid Park.
Biggio will likely work with minor leaguers, and spend time at spring training, though his exact duties have yet to be hammered out. The contract is believed to be for three years.
Biggio, now 42, played more games with the Astros than any other player in franchise history until retiring after last season. He became the 27th player in major league history to reach 3,000 hits back on June 28.
He also holds franchise records for at-bats, runs scored, hits, doubles and extra-base hits. Biggio played 20 seasons, all with Houston, and is a seven- time All-Star.
