KINGSLAND, Gs. -- A few hundred fans in Camden County turned out on Thursday evening to celebrate their Class AAAAA state championship.
The Wildcats finished the season 15-0 and captured their second state championship, their first since 2003.
More than 200 friends and family members were on hand as the team hoisted their trophy and celebrated a perfect season.
"This was such a special victory because we came from behind in three out of the four games, and it's just a special team to be able to do that," said head coach Jeff Herron.
"We're excited here in Kingsland, Ga., with the great support we have out here from the community. The players did an outstanding job. It's a blessing to be in this situation again," said defensive coordinator Welton Coffey.
The Wildcats, who also won a title in 2003, are 108-10 in coach Herron's nine seasons.
