NCAA Game Summary - NC State At Florida State

(Sports Network) - Bert Reed scored on a three-yard end around with 1:36 to play, as the Florida State Seminoles rallied for a 45-42 win over the North Carolina State Wolfpack in an ACC shootout at Doak Campbell Stadium.

Jermaine Thomas ran for a career-high 186 yards and two touchdowns for FSU (4-4, 2-3 ACC), while Chris Thompson added a pair of short rushing touchdowns in the win. Christian Ponder battled through a rib contusion to complete 26- of-40 passes for 277 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Russell Wilson threw for 349 yards and a career-high five touchdowns for the Wolfpack (3-5, 0-4), who have now lost four straight. Jarvis Williams caught three of those touchdown passes, while Owen Spencer finished with a team-best 165 yards on five catches. Toney Baker carried 19 times for 112 yards in a losing effort.

Thomas got the scoring started with a four-yard touchdown run in the final minute of the first quarter, capping a 12-play, 98-yard drive for FSU.

But on the first play of the ensuing possession, Wilson connected with Spencer for an 80-yard touchdown pass to tie the score at 7-7.

The Seminoles answered with a quick scoring drive, as Thompson found the end zone on a six-yard run in the opening minute of the second quarter.

NC State put together a 76-yard drive in just under four minutes, and Jamelle Eugene scored on a three-yard run to make it a 14-14 game with 10:33 to play until halftime.

Less than a minute later, Thomas broke free for a 54-yard touchdown burst to put FSU back on top.

The Wolfpack tied it back up just before the half on a seven-yard scoring strike from Wilson to Williams.

The Seminoles opened up a 28-21 lead at the 10:34 mark of the third quarter, when Ponder found Rod Owens for a six-yard touchdown pass.

Midway through the third quarter, Wilson and Williams hooked up for their second touchdown connection of the day, this time on a six-yard pass.

FSU kicker Dustin Hopkins capped a six-minute drive with a 24-yard field goal to give the Seminoles a 31-28 lead late in the third quarter.

The Seminoles enjoyed their largest lead of the day when Thompson scored on a four-yard run to make it a 10-point game with just under 12 minutes to play in the fourth quarter.

NC State responded with a touchdown on a 29-yard pass from Wilson to George Bryan at the 8:34 mark. The Wolfpack took their first lead when Wilson and Williams hooked up for their third touchdown of the day on a five-yard pass with 3:50 to play.

Reed's eventual game-winner for FSU capped an eight-play, 66-yard drive

The attendance of 67,712 was the Seminoles' smallest home crowd since 1993.
