Athens, GA -- (Sports Network) - Caleb King carried the ball 10 times for 66 yards and two scores to lead the Georgia Bulldogs to a 31-24 win over the Auburn Tigers in an SEC showdown at Sanford Stadium.
Washaun Ealey also carried the ball 18 times for Georgia (6-4, 4-3 SEC), totaling 98 yards and a touchdown, while Joe Cox completed 9-of-17 passes for 173 yards and a touchdown.
Auburn (7-4, 3-4) was paced by Chris Todd, who completed 20-of-28 pass attempts, for 238 yards and two touchdowns.
Auburn scored on its opening drive of the game when Todd found Kodi Burns from five-yards out to take a 7-0 lead.
Todd went back to work minutes later, hooking up with Terrell Zachary for a 31-yard touchdown to give his team a 14-0 advantage.
The Bulldogs responded, early in the second quarter, when Cox and Israel Troupe connected for a 50-yard score to make it a 14-7 game. The score would go unchanged through the rest of the first half.
Georgia scored on the opening drive of the second half, as Blair Walsh drilled a 51-yard field-goal to make it a 14-10 contest.
The Bulldogs took a 17-14 lead late in the third quarter, when Ealey pummeled his way into the endzone for a one-yard touchdown.
Auburn tied the game minutes later with a 37-yard field goal from Wes Byrum.
The Bulldogs regained the lead in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, with an 11-yard touchdown run by King to make it a 24-17 contest.
The Tigers responded on the ensuing kickoff when Desmond Washington returned the kick 99 yards for a score.
The Bulldogs scored the final touchdown of the game minutes later, when King busted off tackle for a 24-yard touchdown run to give Georgia a 31-24 victory.
Georgia won the turnover battle in this contest, forcing the Tigers into two miscues.
