Penguins re-sign Pirjeta

The Pittsburgh Penguins re-signed center Lasse Pirjeta to an undisclosed contract on Thursday.

Pirjeta, 30, appeared in 13 games for the Penguins after being acquired from Columbus on March 9 in exchange for Brian Holzinger. Pirjeta recorded six goals and six assists for 12 points with the club, which went 9-3-1 with him in the lineup.

The 6-4 native of Oulu, Finland appeared in 57 games with the Blue Jackets before the trade. In total, he had eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points last season.

For his career, Pirjeta has appeared in 121 games, recording 19 goals and 24 assists for 43 points.
