MIAMI -

The BCS Championship game Monday night pits the Alabama Crimson Tide against Notre Dame's Fighting Irish. For college football purists, it's a dream match up and ticket prices for the game are pretty hefty.

"Currently they're trading between a thousand and twenty five hundred a piece for the game at the Sun Life Stadium. You'll be lucky to find one under $1,000," said ticket broker Mike Lipman.

Tens of thousands of fans are expected to fly into Miami hoping to score a ticket. And many know they will end up hunkering down in one of many sports bars or stadium fan zones.

"I'm kind of cheap, so I'm probably only going to pay $500." said Mike Knight who is an Alabama fan.

The average air fare cost to Miami is $687 round trip and a two night stay in Miami will put you out around $500. With that said fans could pay more than $3,000 for the historic experience.

"Little expensive, little expensive, but we had to do it, we had to do it. Can't miss it. Yeah, definitely worth it." said Alabama fan Taylor Guzy.

"It cost a lot of money to have fun down here, but it's worth it," said Notre Dame fan John Bacon.

"You don't get many chances to see Alabama play for the national championship," said Alabama fan Kayo Penson.

Both teams claim more than 10 national championships and are two of the most stories programs in college football history. The teams have met six times, with Notre Dame coming out ahead five of those times. But the teams haven't met in more than a decade.
