The NFL draft, televised on ESPN, ESPN2 and NFL Network, reached a record 45.7 million viewers over the three days of the event, according to The Nielsen Company.

That figure broke the previous mark of 45.4 million viewers set in 2010.

First-round coverage on ESPN and NFL Network last Thursday drew a combined 32 million watchers, making it the most-viewed Round 1 ever, according to Nielsen. That figure was up 28 percent over last year's first round that attracted 25 million.

Rounds 2 and 3 on NFL Network, ESPN and ESPN2 on Friday combined for an eight percent increase over last year. Saturday's final day of draft coverage on the three networks topped 2013 figures by 17 percent.

Also, this year's draft was the biggest ever on Twitter. More than 9.6 million tweets were sent about the draft, an increase of 211 percent over last year.
