Mike Green took part in the Capitals’ entire practice Friday morning in Arlington, a day after he sat out a second straight game with a lower-body injury. Green took part in warm-ups Thursday night prior to Washington’s 3-2 loss to the Devils but ultimately decided that he wasn’t ready for game action. “I didn’t feel ready,” said Green, who added that he’s hoping to make it back in the lineup for Saturday’s matinee against New Jersey. “And an extra day makes the biggest difference, so that was the decision we made.” Over the past three days of practice, Green has appeared hesitant to skate at full speed and truly test his mobility. Green, who missed 41 games last season because of a lingering groin injury that eventually required sports hernia surgery, said earlier in the week he had been through this injury before. So Green, 27, is trying to remain patient. “You’ve got to play it smart,” Green said. “It’s better I be safe than sorry and be out for longer. We’ve done this right, we’ve done the necessary steps and I feel good. So it’s been a quick turnaround.”
