Get your popcorn ready. He's back. Sort of.

Terrell Owens announced that he's returning to Texas to resume his professional football career -- but not with the Dallas Cowboys.

In a posting on his Twitter account Wednesday night, Owens said he's joining the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League

The 38-year-old Owens has accepted an offer from the club that includes part ownership of the team.

“It’s official. It just went down," Owens said in a video posting on his Twitter account. "I’m headed back to Texas. IFL here I come. Allen Texas here I come.”

Drew Pearson, the general manager of the team, confirmed that Owens will be with the team as a player-owner.

Last month, the Wranglers said they offered Owens a package that could be worth up to $500,000 for the 2012 season, which gets underway in February. The majority of IFL players earn $225 per game plus a bonus for wins.

Owens sat out the entire NFL season while rehabbing from offseason knee surgery. He attempted to make a comeback but no team made an offer.

The controversial wideout last played in the NFL with Cincinnati in 2010, hauling in 72 receptions for 983 yards and nine touchdowns.

He ranks second in NFL history with 15,934 yards and 153 touchdowns.
