The Pittsburgh Penguins signed veteran defenseman Mark Eaton to a one-year, $750,000 contract on Monday.
Eaton, 35, was a member of the Pens' 2009 championship team and recently completed a professional tryout with Pittsburgh's AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
After finishing the 2010 season with Pittsburgh, Eaton signed a two-year, $5 million deal with the Islanders.
He had one goal and three assists for the Islanders last season, and he has not played an NHL game this season.
