Manny Ramirez is heading back to Major League Baseball.
Ramirez told ESPN's Pedro Gomez on Monday that he has agreed to a one-year deal worth $500,000 to play for the Oakland Athletics.
The veteran outfielder will serve a 50-game suspension for violating baseball's drug policy for a second time. Without any rainouts or postponements, the slugger will make his return by June 2.
Ramirez, who will have turned 40 by that time, is batting .312 for his career. His 555 home runs place him 14th on the all-time list.
Last year, Ramirez limped to a .059 batting average in five games with the Tampa Bay Rays.
