Recap: Penguins 3, Rangers 0
Penguins 3, Rangers 0: Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside all 23 shots he faced to set a franchise record with his 23rd career shutout and Tyler Kennedy collected a goal and an assist as host Pittsburgh skated to its eighth straight victory.
Former Ranger Pascal Dupuis added his seventh goal in six games and rookie Beau Bennett also scored for the Penguins, who have defeated New York on seven consecutive occasions - including the last two by shutout.
After Tomas Vokoun stopped 28 shots in a 3-0 win over New York on Jan. 31, Fleury secured his first blanking since making 27 saves in a 2-0 victory over the Rangers on Feb. 21, 2012. Fleury snapped a tie with Tom Barrasso for the franchise lead in shutouts.
Bennett gave Fleury all the offense he would need at 1:30 of the first period. The 21-year-old beat defenseman Anton Stralman to a loose puck in the right faceoff circle before blasting a shot that caromed off the left post and into the net.
Kennedy provided the Penguins some breathing room at 6:34 of the third period after firing a sharp-angle shot past Henrik Lundqvist (24 saves) from the left circle. Dupuis scored 43 seconds later with a backhand shot to send the Rangers to their eighth setback in 12 road contests (4-7-1).
GAME NOTEBOOK: Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby saw his 16-game point streak against the Rangers come to an end. ... Bennett scored his previous goal in the Penguins' win over Tampa Bay on Feb. 24. ... The Rangers, who have been shut out three times in 2013, have mustered just two goals during their three-game losing skid.
