Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey will miss 4-6 weeks with multiple fractures in his cheekbone, general manager Ken Holland told MLive.com.
Quincey was injured while attempting to block a shot with his stick in the third period against the Edmonton Oilers on Friday. The puck bounced up and hit him in the face, causing damage that will require surgery next week.
Quincey has played an average of 19:11 minutes in 26 games this season, recording a goal and an assists to go with a plus-8 rating.
