Sharks beat Gladiators 56-42
Jacksonville now is 7-7 and tied for the lead in the South division
The ArenaBowl XXIV Champion Jacksonville Sharks used four interceptions to defeat the Cleveland Gladiators, 56-42, in front of 9,662 on Sea Best Field at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday night.
Jacksonville quarterback Bernard Morris finished the game 27-of-35 for 267 yards and seven touchdowns without an interception. Terrance Smith and Jeron Harvey each grabbed three touchdowns to lead the Shark attack. Smith also recorded 85 kickoff return yards to finish with a game-high total of 207 all-purpose yards. Defensively, LaRoche Jackson led the way with 11.5 total tackles and two interception, while Micheaux Robinson snagged a pair of picks as well.
The win moves Jacksonville into a three-way tie with the Georgia Force and New Orleans VooDoo atop the South Division, pending the Force's result against the Utah Blaze late Saturday night. Should Georgia fall to the Blaze, Jacksonville would move into first place by virtue of owning the head-to-head tiebreaker over New Orleans. The Sharks return to action next Saturday night against the VooDoo in New Orleans.
