PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -

Pitching and defense is what got the Providence Stallions to the class 3A state championship game.  It turned out they needed both to capture their 3rd ever state championship.

Stallions starter Walter Lockett pitched a complete game 6-hit shutout, striking out 4 and walking just one American Heritage batter.  Lockett also contributed on offense with an RBI single in the 3rd to make it 2-0 Providence.

The championship is the 3rd in school history for the Stallions with the last coming in 2008.  Providence finished the year with a 27-5 record.
