Syracuse remained the unanimous No. 1-ranked team in the Associated Press top 25 poll for the second straight week.

The poll was released Monday.

Also, Southern Methodist moved into the top 25 for the first time since 1985.

The Orange (23-0) received all 65 first-place votes. Arizona (23-1), Florida (21-2), Wichita State (25-0), San Diego State (21-1) and Villanova (21-2) stayed in the Nos. 2-6 spots. Syracuse and the No. 4 Shockers are the only unbeaten Division I teams.

Kansas (18-5) moved up one spot to No. 7 and Duke (19-5) leaped three places to No. 8. Michigan State (20-4) and Cincinnati (22-3) round out the top 10.

No. 21 Wisconsin and No. 22 Ohio State returned to the rankings after dropping out for a week.

SMU (19-5), which beat then-seventh Cincinnati last week, debuted at No. 23. It was the first time the Mustangs have been ranked since the next-to-last poll of the 1984-85 season. They ranked as high as No. 2 that season.

Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Gonzaga fell out of the rankings.
